Both
of todays tips ran decent races – but neither was quite good enough to
win…
At
Warwick, Timons Tara ran precisely the race I expected (and hoped !): leading
from the off and generally jumping well.
It
actually looked as is she might have her rivals in trouble as she set off down
the back straight on the final circuit.
However, she couldn’t get way from them – and once she was tackled and headed, her race was effectively over…

There weren’t many excuses for Sumos Novios
either…
He
travelled sweetly and appeared to have every chance turning in – but he couldn’t
pick up and only managed to stay on into third place.
It
is possible that he was racing on softer ground up the straight – and he did
give away ground by racing wide – but Robbie Power knows Naas far better than I
do and I’m sure he chose that particular route for a reason…
As
for the Mentions: then Chain Gang ran a similar race to Sumos Novios and also
finished third.
He
made a mess of a few hurdles – but it probably wasn’t the difference between
winning and losing.
Robin of Locksley was a winning Mention at Warwick.
I not sure exactly what price he opened up at last night – but I think it was double figures.

That
had gone by this morning – but he was still 8/1 when I issued the write-up and
6/1 when I made him a Fair bet.
Clearly he was popular with someone – though I didn’t
expect an SP of just 5/2 !
When
horses get backed like that, they normally win – and he didn’t just win, he
bolted up.
In
fairness, he did have form in the book that entitled him to win as he did – and
I doubt things will be quite so easy for him next time, once the assessor has
had his say !
Finally, Carli King ran a courageous race from the front
– but the combination of the extreme distance and soft ground found him out over
the last few furlongs…
He’s
been unlucky not to win one of his last 2 races – and I do wonder if his
opportunity to record a victory, may now have passed…
TVB.
