Review of the day

I think your view on how today went, is likely to depend on how you follow the TVB service…

If you just follow the tips, then it was a by now familiar story of close – but no cigar: If you use the write-ups, then, as with most days this week, you should have had a good day…

In terms of the tips, then there were 3 – and one of them, Scotchtown, went very close to winning at Warwick.
However, as has been the case so often recently, he ended up finishing second, having traded at odds on in running.

In fairness, the other 2 tips didn’t run anywhere near as well.
Fourth Act never featured in the same race: whilst Sego Success was a big disappointment in the Classic chase.

As I said this morning, I couldn’t see any reason why he wouldn’t run well – but his jumping was poor and over that kind of distance, it was inevitable that he would pay for his sloppiness eventually…

If the tips were generally disappointing, then the Mentions were generally very good…

Rothman was a little unlucky not to win at Kempton, only finding the other eye catcher in the race, Foxtail Hill, a bit too good for him.

It was a similar story with Vibrato Voltat, who looked likely to win – but succumbed to Vaniteux, close home.
I was concerned about the tactics in the race – and certainly didn’t envisage Vibrato Voltat trying to make all.
Ultimately, that may have been his undoing, as it played in to the hands of the winner.

Pobbles Bay was the one disappointing mention on the day – though the race was taken apart by American, who was a very impressive winner.

As too, were the final 2 mentions on the day: Willoughby Court and Our Kaempfer.
Both were 8/1 shots this morning – but both were very well backed – and surprise, surprise, won well.

I did consider tipping Our Kaempfer – but those are the kind of close calls that you tend to get wrong, when you are on a bad run…

TVB.
