It
was a bit of a frustrating afternoon…
I
issued 2 tips on the day, and the first of them, Forever Gold, came very close
to getting the season up and running.
To
be honest, he ran exactly the race I expected – he just bumped into one slightly
better on the day.
Raz
De Maree has been then before: done that and got the T-shirt – and he rolled
back the years this afternoon to deny Forever Gold.
I can’t really have any complaints – it was just a bit irritating…

The
other tip on the day, Ashtown, didn’t do so well…
In
fairness, there are risky tips – and then there was him !
I
didn’t like the late drift (16 out to 30 on BF in the 5 mins before the off) –
and sure enough, he didn’t run his race and was eventually pulled up.
Presumably he is a horse who is difficult to keep
sound.
I kind on knew that pre-race, so again, I can’t really have any complaints…

As
for the other runners of interest on the day:
Braavos jumped poorly in the opener at Sandown and never
really looked like justifying his position as market leader.
You
would have to be a little wary about following him based on that
performance.
Vivaldi Collonges also jumped poorly – and did nothing to
make me change my opinion of him !
Loose Chips on the other hand, generally jumped OK – and
showed his customary relish of a battle.
The
only surprise was a starting price of 11/4.
Finally at Naas, Aspen Colorado drifted to 7/2 (bigger on
BF) and never really featured; whilst JPs second string, Sir Scorpion, was
relatively solid in the market and came home in front.
Probably just a coincidence, tho !
TVB.
